Visit of Dr. Silvia González Vice Rector and Dr. Pablo Torres Carrión research coordinator of the UTPL.

The information technology center - CTI was pleased to receive Dr. Silvia González Vice-rector and Dr. Pablo Torres Carrión research coordinator of the UTPL, who toured the building facilities with the guide of Msc. Adriano Pinargote. During the visit they toured some of CTI's research areas.

 

 

Dr. Gonzalo Méndez, leader of the CCSH research area “Human Centered Computing”, presented the details of the Icora project (A Grade-prediction Tool to Support Course Selection and Recommendation) is a comprehensive and highly beneficial tool for students and counselors, since it provides an interactive, fast and personalized experience to predict a range of grades that each student could obtain, statistical information can also be seen along with their workload, and it also allows a global observation of the students' academic history. The system also readjusts the grade ranges according to the subjects that the student selects, which also allows counselors to give a better recommendation to students.

 

 

Eng. Leonardo Eras presented the RAP project “Automatic Feedback for Presentations” in which he highlighted the movements during an oral presentation by evaluating various aspects of the presentation such as postures, gazes, sound pauses, fillers, volume and slides that allow obtain feedback on a student's oral presentation. The analysis of these characteristics is carried out using artificial intelligence technologies. During the exhibition, the Vice-Rector of UTPL was interested in posture and gaze detection technologies.

 

 

Eng. Nelson Vera and Eng. Xavier Aizaga from the TRI group “Smart Grid Technologies” presented the project of a capacity control system, a positioning project based on an Open Source infrastructure and the implementation of a sensor network using the MQTT communication protocol for sending information.
