What is it about?
Using a multi-touch table, an application for database design was created, which can be used by engineering students.
Project phases
This project has had several stages:
The first version of the project did not use a multi-touch table, but a projector and infrared cameras to detect movements on the table. This stage also used feathers with markers to be detected by the cameras.
The second phase it replaced the infrared cameras with a Kinect, and was used with the hands, although feathers were also used, but this time using a single RGB camera to detect its position. These pens allowed scratching on the table, while the objects were moved with the hands.
The third phase the projector was replaced by a 3M multi-touch table, although the Kinect continued to be used to detect who was scratching on the table. The application stopped using pens and was programmed so that all actions are carried out with the hands.
Project objectives:
- Allow students to create their own database designs, without having to use pens and paper.
- Allow teachers to review student design progress in real time from their own web application.
- Give an automatic grade to the solution provided by the students.
- Make posts.
