Virtual Circuits

Objective:

Explore how augmented reality capabilities can be used to develop engineering skills in the field of electrical circuits.

Prototype:

A mobile application was developed that, together with a low-cost physical configuration, provides the opportunity for engineering students to simulate electrical circuits interacting with physical and virtual elements in such a way that they have access to parameters that can be obtained in traditional software simulators with the ease of observing them on a manipulable physical element.

Results

Tests were carried out with students of the ESPOL Electrical Networks II Laboratory subject, considering a practice based on the developed augmented reality system. They considered that this tool could be very useful as a learning complement in matters related to network analysis in various fields, not only in electrical networks.
